Get Real

No, that really is what I mean. GET REAL. We spend so much time trying to wear different hats and being "all things to all people" that sometimes reality gets lost. The reality is that it's exhausting to be a wife and a mother. It's tiring to go to work, or to work at home. It's frustrating when your plans go awry, your budget gets stressed or family has trouble. But trying to be it all, do it all and manage it all can become so overwhelming that we lose our identity.

How do you get real? How do you stay true to who you were created to be, yet be all you were created to do? REAL. Real is knowing who you are and what your core values are. It is knowing that integrity, love, loyalty and family are important to you and deciding accordingly. It is action based on a set of unshakable truths; no matter what the issue, the values stay the same.

Jesus was real. No matter whether they were waving palms at Him, whipping Him with a cat-of-nine tails or sitting at His feet to hear His teachings ... He was REAL. And through our realistic lifestyle, we can point others to the most important reality ever offered. You see, when we become fake, we discredit ourselves and everything we stand for. But when we are consistent, stable and trustworthy, people want to know why. And the "why" is the reality that we base our life on.

  1. Lisa,

Great post! In a world that is fascinated with "second life," I think the Lord is just looking for somebody to get the first one right.
